ABOUT THE SHOP
Gentleman Barber Lounge was founded by owner Mario Malgeri in 2024. Mario has long been drawn to the tradition and culture of the classic American barbershop. Growing up, he often accompanied his father and uncles to neighborhood shops, where the atmosphere felt less like a business and more like a social club—men gathering to talk sports, life, and everything in between.
Years later, while traveling the country visiting Major League Baseball ballparks, he made a habit of stopping into local barbershops for a traditional hot towel shave. Many of those shops captured the same timeless spirit he remembered from childhood, sparking a growing appreciation for barbering culture and leading him to begin collecting vintage barber memorabilia.
Wanting to provide the same classic experience to others, Gentleman Barber Lounge was born in 2024.
ABOUT THE OWNER
Although not a barber himself, Mario's goal was to create a space that preserves that authentic barbershop experience—somewhere genuine, comfortable, and full of character. As a character actor, storytelling and atmosphere have always been central to his life.
In fact, his first on-screen role appeared in a barbershop scene in The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese—a coincidence that now feels almost fitting. Just as acting brings stories to life on screen, Gentleman Barber Lounge was created to bring that same sense of tradition, personality, and community to life every day inside the shop.
